What a predicament for the medical community, and how sad for the family. I do not believe in law suits except in the case of gross negligence, and to my mind, the doctor was not negligent. People who show up in an ER with no medical history to provide or no personal physician to consult cannot expect the ER medical staff to recognize an unusual illness or form a conclusion from non-specific symptoms. Hopefully with The Affordable Care Act now in place, everyone can have a referring physician!
