What a racket! Charters should only be allowed if they actually engage in trying new teaching approaches and show total transparency as to where the public money they get is spent. Their results need to be consistently open to the public, their student population needs to reflect the student population in the public schools. They are supposed to be a testing ground for new ideas in education, not a give away of public money to private, for profit, entrepreneurs, with no accountability attached to it. What democracy is this to abdicate its responsibility to educate its citizens in such a negligent if not criminal manner??? Sickening!
