What a remarkably odd and fascinating book! Ehrenreich has been oft read ever since my days in sociology and womens studies classes in college ... so I expected something different, more like one of her essays maybe, on the question of the nature of the divine ... only to find it much more a memoir ... and at first I found this frustrating. In the end though, it was, as I said, fascinating. Only in the final few chapters does Barbara Ehrenreich of today analyze the spiritual travels of her younger self giving them an interpretation.
