What a revoltin development THIS is! --Chester A. Riley (William Bendix) For the second time in less than a year, weve been suspended from starting new auctions or revising current sale stock on eBay due to being unable to pay their four level system of excessive fees (as much as 20 percent per item) as a result of poor sales. How preventing a merchant from selling is expected to get the overdue fees paid any more quickly remains a mystery. With a bit more spare time now by working only 10 or 12 hours daily instead of the usual 14 to 16, were back to compiling more lists of our scanned vintage fire brigade photos in hope of actually selling some on CD discs with a Delaware list being underway at present. However, despite an initial flurry of enquiries about our previous lists of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and Washington DC fire engine photos, only two small orders have been generated thus far - hardly enough to buy dinner, let alone allow us to stem the rising tide of red ink from routine monthly bills being 60 to 90 days past due. Our decade of selling historic memorabilia and vintage collectibles on eBay began quite well in 2004, but ever since the national economy took a swan dive, our sales have declined gradually since 2008 to the point of no longer being viable, especially with nearly everything were offering being consignments today (ie: expending the same labour and time for a fraction of the money). Weve lost most of our regular customers who simply cannot afford to spend money on non-essential hobbies any longer because they have either lost or are still in fear of losing homes, jobs, and savings. Were living in the real world of the so-called economy recovery Americas elected leaders are trying so hard to convince us of. Those of us circling the drain down here at the bottom of the social and financial world bloody well know better. Reminds us of that old saying: The beatings will continue until morale improves.
