What a ripper of a weekend!!! Sailing friends new and old enjoying our great sport! The Pelican’s “Bring a Mate” race was a great success with lots of mates, buddies, siblings & friends trying out sailing for the first time. From all reports the kids had a great fun time, loved the sailing and really loved the BBQ! Many kids interested to have another go and keen to get involved in our learn to sail courses. So good to keep building our junior fleets and ensure the ongoing success of our Club. The club was packed on Sunday with “old Skiffies” some racing, some helping out on the start boat, some just coming to the club to catch up with friends and tell a yarn or two! Sailing friendships endure . . . . when we get together . . . it’s just like it was yesterday. Straight Azz took line honours with Adam Lancey on board, AB Window Fashions brought back a champion crew of old to take second with Gary Bruniges, Scott Sherry & Andrew Buchan and third place went to Newcastle Herald with Jed Sutcliff and Dimps. Upstairs in The Quarterdeck, the Ladies enjoyed a fun afternoon and a beautiful lunch. The Skiffy Trivia was a hit however questions were asked when “a certain mum” didn’t know the answer to who was the last B16ftSC State Champion (which was her son) and “a certain wife” didn’t know who was the last B16ftSC Australian Champion (which was her husband!) Better brush up for next year!!! A lovely afternoon of friendship and fun.
