What a roller coaster ride Im having this week! After the awful - TopicsExpress

What a roller coaster ride Im having this week! After the awful day yesterday, I had some great news today (more on that later), then this evening I had another disaster with casting! After yesterday, I thought I had managed to rescue the moulds. However, I cast with them this evening with some good resin I forgot I had, and as you can see, the moulds are toast! :( Sweet Lullabys mould was ruined back in August, I didnt know it was ruined as it looked ok, but casting a copy from the mould tonight lead to the mould disintegrating. The same happened when I used the Inferno mould which was fine until yesterday. Then, knowing this, I cautiously slathered the Albert and Victoria mould with release agent (like a moisturiser for the rubber)....and even with that, the mould broke away when I gently removed the casts. This is about as bad as it gets. I have a casting backlog that is longer than I ever had and I need these three models to fulfil the orders that have already been delayed with the house move/cabin build. Ive got in touch with everyone waiting on copies to explain, but I now have a dilemma - Sweet Lullaby is a two mould run, Horsing Around cast the first mould of around 25 copies and this mould is the second. I have taken less than 20 casts from it, so for a two mould run I have only had 45 copies. I will HAVE to make another mould to fulfil the order I confidently took (the mould could have gone for another 30 or so copies), breaking my own limit. I dont feel comfortable doing this and will likely retire this new mould after just a few casts, to make amends for this issue. BUT - I like a challenge and doing something over has never been a problem before. I wanted to make a two-part mould (or even a butterfly mould - not done one of those before!) for Sweet Lullaby and now I have the opportunity. Also I had good news today.... :D
