What a shame the Pirates on the Prom at Penzance didnt beat the word record :-( Penzance last held the record in 2011 with 8,734 pirates but Hastings broke that record soon after. The organisers had hoped to attract 20,000 people to regain the record for the most pirates in one place. A count confirmed there were 14,154 pirates, 77 short of a new world record. The event was held as part of Penzances 400th celebrations of its town charter. Lets hope they try again and get the Pirates back in Penzance :-) :-)
