What a show Im having! Even with his riders total blonde moment in the Medium Championship yesterday where I showed NO medium or extended canter, thus landing Mambo FOUR 4s for movements we usually crack 7s for, he managed to compensate wildly & still come FIFTH! Of course, he then punished me by annihilating the prize-giving. There is no other way to put it other than he lost his shit, setting off the other horses, Maxine leaping off to avoid death, Karen getting some undesired piaffe, Bev Pendock doing a rugby dive while shouting at me FOR GODS SAKE DONT KICK THE CARS!!! & me yelling IM NOT TRYING TO!!!. The groom refused to take him for me, thank God and all his angels for Renae who caught a rein as we flew past & disciplined the little pissed off German. Then: my Lilly. The Prix St George of a lifetime. Six months ago pirouettes & tempes were pipe dreams, then it was just to crack 60%. At the CDI we got 64% under international judges. Yesterday I burst into tears at our final salute in immense gratitude for a horse that is just rising to my expectations constantly. I thought the only thing to beat that was walking out to see my Ren (Dominey: I see your wife has arrived.) and KK standing there cheering for us. But then I hear the announcementh we are the Reserve SA Prix St George Champions 2014 to a truly deserving Zindane & Trudy... By 0.03%! Gosh its easy to get greedy when its such a tight margin, just ONE more mark... :-P but Im just overwhelmed! Overwhelmed by my amazing owners, patrons of equestrianism, the Kleynhans family. My show family! - the Bothas who accommodated, fetched, carried, & fed a total stranger with huge enthusiasm & warmth.
