What a stupid move -- Gov.Christie has his Bridge-gate and now Gov.Corbett has his Rotunda-gate. Iook a bus trip to Harrisburg today with 3 dozen other union members from the Lehigh Valley for a rally opposing a so-called payroll protection bill which is actually a union-busting Right to Work (for Less) bill being promoted by the Koch Brothers and other wealthy corporate dudes who lead the union-busting in Wisconsin last year. There were over 30 busloads from all over PA plus many, many carloads. Our bus arrived around 9:10 for a 10 AM rally in the Rotunda. Long line outside, waiting to go thru security. Just before we reached the door, they locked the doors and said the building was at capacity, fire regulations prohibited any more being admitted. We didnt get inside the building, nor did nearly 1000 people waiting behind us. The temperature was near 0, and lots of wind. Outrageous!!! This is a public building, paid for by taxpayers, and the building was nowhere near capacity. Ive been there with NOW, PennPIC and the PA Council of churches, when many more were inside. I guess NOW members, seniors & clergy arent as threatening as steamfitters, teamsters, prison guards, etc. LOL My friend Ellen Marx works at the Welfare Office in Easton, and has a Commonwealth Employee ID, so she was allowed inside and took her frail aged mother (me) along, however, we were not allowed into the Rotunda. We did make the rounds of 1/2 doz. State Reps and Senators. However, several hundred who couldnt handle waiting in the cold were sent to nearby Strawberry Square shopping mall, 1-1/2 blocks away.. They never got to see the elected officials they came to see, after riding on buses from as far away as Erie. Are they pissed off? you bet!
