What a superb performance by the William Carey actors in their performance of the White Christmas. I have to be honest with you, I have not seen the movie in its entirety, so I did not know the plot of the musical. This made it even sweeter to see it for the first time with my son in one of the lead roles. I was taken by surprise with the talent and enthusiasm that they put upon the stage. Ben, as always, pleasingly surprised me with his tap dancing scene which was absolutely amazing. And what a voice!! The kid can sing and the timing for the humor was impeccable. All of the actors were great with nonstop dancing and singing. Their enthusiasm is apparent as they had to break down the set and bring it back to the campus in Hattiesburg and set up some of it for a choral performance in the morning. That is dedication!!! During lean times cuts come to the arts first and hard. I would take exception to that; the arts are what make all the other worth it. They give to us a moment of joy and contemplation in a world filled with the unthinkable. It gives us our humanity. I was glad to have Holly out from the hospital to enjoy tonight and John Morano also joined us after recovering from his surgery. An old friend, Caroline Boyd, came tonight and was celebrating, after a protracted fight with cancer, that she was officially cancer free. Her husband, who is suffering from Alzheimers and seldom goes out was by her side and they both thoroughly enjoyed the show. So, you see, it’s more than just a show, its bringing a bit of joy to others life, if only for a brief moment, making the world a better place. That is special!! Thanks to all my friends and family that attended the show. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
