What a supremely wonderful soul Salman Khan is - I am talking about the educator, NOT our Barechest Beefcake. If there is anybody at whose feet we should throw ourselves unashamedly, it is him, it is him, it is him. The man has only three undergrad degrees from MIT - one each in mathematics, electrical engineering and computer science. Oh, and he took a degree in business from the Harvard Business School too. Just like that! He started to use Yahoo’s Doodle Notepad to help his niece learn mathematics, and when that was successful, he started getting more requests for help. Instead of getting into one of those six figure dollar salary jobs which most of us would give our right hands for, he decided to get into education full time WITHOUT the profit motive in mind. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Google are two entities which have been impressed enough to make seven digit contributions. Gates also went on record saying that he had used the Khan Academy site to teach his own children. The only guy who I think deserves a Peace Nobel more than Sal is of course Jimmy Wales who democratized the acquisition of knowledge.
