What a surprise. I opened the door this evening to a sheriffs deputy. He informed me they had 911 call from our phone, that phone that is out of order. The phone has been ringing of and on for the last several days. More often one ring and nothing more but a few times enough to trigger the answering machine which is now full. These last few nights it has rung once in the middle of the night waking us up. Last night it rung and midnight and again at 3am. As the 3am was more than one ring I picked it up to hear some cross talk, nothing I could make out though from the noise. So here on my front deck as a deputy checking out our phone calling 911. I guess the phone is getting desperate as ATT has not done much for repairs, worse I cant even get a live person to tell me what in the hell is going on, but I did manage to get from the recorded voice that it would be until January 15th before I could expect repairs. So, now the phone is making desperate calls to 911, man I never thought I would see the day when an inanimate object felt a need to call authorities because they felt a need to.
