What a surreal and lovely evening I had last night! I didnt quite expect barely two days into my visit to end up in the only Irish pub in Haiti with most of the 100 or so Brits currently residing in the country, and an open bar provided by none other than Her Royal Majestys government. Really fascinating to meet the high commissioners to both Haiti and the Dominican Republic, as well as the Canadian ambassador, deputy manager of the British Red Cross mission, a high-ranking strategist and gang expert for the UN peacekeeping force, a UNDP worker here since the earthquake, and various others.
