What a time in Guadalajara. We were received as guests of honor - TopicsExpress

What a time in Guadalajara. We were received as guests of honor by Jalisco State Senator Jesús Casillas, https://facebook/jesuscasillasromero. Riding into town Friday morning we were accompanied by many members of the incredibly welcoming cycling advocacy group Mover a México en bicicleta and the senator himself! We arrived at the beautiful Zapopan city hall where we had a chance to meet the mayor and even have a brief press conference with some other city officials. We talked to lots of reporters and there were multiple news cameras involved...heres a link to a tv story that went up. Kudos to Thom for putting his Spanish on the line in front of thousands of viewers, and to Ricardo for his nonstop talking and smiling beautifully all morning: https://meganoticias.mx/tu-ciudad/guadalajara/noticias/item/52727-rumbo-a-argentina-ciclistas-que-partieron-de-alaska-pasan-por-zapopan.html We were wonderfully hosted in a beautiful hotel in El Centro, right on the main plaza (we had our own BEDS!), and were sure sad to have to leave now. This feels like a city you could spend years feeling and figuring out. Thanks again, so so much, to Senator Jesús Casillas and to everyone who made us feel more than at home here. I felt a bit strange and unnatural having the red carpet rolled out for me, but as a result of the media coverage from Friday morning many people, electronically and in person, walked right up and told me how inspiring we are to them personally, and that we should keep it up. Thats really a nice thing. -Dyar
