What a tragedy. It is sober reminder that kids may able to climb hard but still lack basic intuition about the forces involved in climbing. We must be extra-thorough when climbing with kids. For my non-climber friends: a kid in Italy was climbing with his quick-draws rigged like the picture below. It is hard to see but the silver biner should be clipped through the loop, not just through the black rubber band. When he put is weight on the rope (which was clipped to these quick-draws), 8 of these ripped out and he fell to the ground. climbing/news/the-quickdraws-that-led-to-tito-traversa-death/
