What a way to start off the day! I get into the taxi to go to the Bombay High Court and just as I am getting in, I get a call and from my responses, the cabbie gets an idea that I am there for a case. Once the call is over, he tells me how approaching the courts is an exercise in futility and that a sane person should avoid it. I told him it was in public interest and told him in laymans language about the Mumbai Airport scam, and the amounts involved and waited for a lecture that would last the trip. After letting it sink in, the cabbie quietly said, Aap ke liye aaj ek aur namaz padhunga aur dua maangunga ki aapki jeet ho.Ye airport waale madar**od hain aur court se koi umeed nahi ki jaa sakti; ye log to court mein bhi paise khila kar case jeet lenge. Lekin saab, aap chhodna nahi. (Today I shall recite the namaz one more time for you and pray for your victory. These airport guys are mother**ckers and one cannot have any hope from the courts. These people will bribe the courts and get the verdict in their favour. But Sir, do not leave them.) And when we reached the HC, he refused to take money from me - said he was not educated enough to stand with me and fight, but he could certainly not take the fare as his contribution. It took all the convincing powers I had to get the cabbie to accept the fare. And then, of course, there was Indur K Chhugani at the HC waiting for me. He took me around, got me to submit all the necessary precipes and get information from the Departments and finally, guided me to the Court of Mr. Justice Ranjit More. I would have been completely lost without him. And preceeding all this was one Mr. Bharat Sharma (https://facebook/BSharma01) whom I do not know at all (he is not even a friend on fb) offering financial help in the fight against big ticket corruption. The next date at the Bombay High Court is 22.12.2014.
