What a way to start the weekend. I was heading home on 280 North. I just past the John Daly exit and was 10 cars behind the car in front when a Volvo sped up beside my left hand side to move into my lane. He was going 90 mph closed into fast to the other car. I stepped on the brakes, worried that I was about witness an accident. Luckily, he stopped just in time. Traffic was moving at a good pace so I moved up close behind the him. Suddenly, he stopped moving and seconds later he turned on his emergency lights. I start signaling to try to go around him, but there was too much traffic. My attempts at switching lanes cause me to get too close and now I had to put my car in reverse to give myself some more room. As I did that, he turns off his emergency lights and his reverse lights come on, but he doesnt move. He then puts his emergency lights back on. I peered into the window and he him talking to the female passenger next to him. I looked back and see that theres now about a 20 car backup in my lane. All of a sudden, I see a black car coming up from a distance along my right. He cuts through my lane several cars behind me and drives up along my right slowly. He comes up and stops in front of the Volvo at an angle with his tail, partially taking up 2 lanes. The driver of the black car rolls down the window and starts conversing with the driver of the Volvo. After a short while, the black car takes off. The Volvo turns off his emergency lights and follows the other car. They both reach the 280/101 split just before the 19th Ave. exit and indecisively drives toward 101. My guess is the driver of the Volvo didnt know which direction to go so he decided to stop in the middle of the freeway so his friend to catch up and lead the way.
