What a weekend! I am totally exhausted, so Mom must be extremely exhausted (which is good for Daddy - that means she will sleep well). Thursday, for Recreational Therapy we went on a field trip to Schlotzskys. It is right by the hospital so her therapist and I accompanied Mom in her wheelchair where she walked to the counter, ordered, paid with cash, and visited during lunch. She passed all of her goals! Then, she had a pass to leave Baylor Saturday and Sunday. So, Saturday everyone came to my house for a home-cooked meal and our precious friends, the Bells, brought Grandaddy and Cuddles (her beloved Shih Tzu) over. Im pretty sure Mom was most excited to see Cuddles. The Bells lived here in Keller when we lived here 1996-2005 and went to church with us. They watched our kids grow up and we taught their youngest in 9th grade. Now they live in Granbury and know Mom and Daddy from church. They graciously offered to keep Cuddles at their home through this whole ordeal. And Im sure they would admit that she is a high maintenance dog;) They are also helping tremendously with Grandaddy. We had a great time catching up with them and having Mom in a home environment. She left very tired and Daddy said she slept all night. Tyler came home this morning from Austin, so we met Mom, Daddy, David and his family in Frisco for Mexican food and then Mom and Daddy came back to my house to hang out. Mom took a nap and felt much better when they left today. We are still planning for discharge next Saturday the 19th. Therapy is very tiring and trying for her but she pushes through that. All we know for the next step is that she will need 24 hour supervision (to make sure she doesnt fall or do anything to endanger herself) and therapy in Fort Worth 3-4 days a week. That part is still in the planning stages. Daddy will spend this week getting the house ready to take her home. We cant stress enough how much we appreciate your prayer and words of encouragement. This has definitely been a wake up call of how precious life is and quickly things can change. Thanks again to each of you!! Love, Jennifer
