What a weekend. So many amazing performances and I feel so privileged to be able to share some special moments at the TNF finish line as Mile 27 runners crossed the line. With so many results not sure where to start so Ill start from fastest to slowest but with the note that Im just as proud of the slower runners as the fastest. Ben Duffus 5th place 9.56 - ran an amazing race - 24th at CP1 and almost caught 3rd and 4th at the end. Fastest split from CP4 to 5. Ben ran into CP4 with a big grin on his face and said now the fun starts. Classy run Scotty Hawker 7th 10.15 . Scotty had some bad stomach problems for 20k or so but toughed it out to finish very strong Sonia McDermott - 6th 12.22 place women and 2nd Australian. An incredible run from a mum of 4 kids. No-one mentioned her in the pre race top ten talk but she showed whats she is capable of with very classy run Jodie Oborne 10th 12.49 - to run that time only months after running a 24 hour race is simply an amazing effort from Jodie Tom Bakowoski - 13th place 11.12 - a 33 minute PB Dave Graham 12.00 hours - having already run Buffalo Stampede and Northburn in the last few months Dave pulls out a 43 minute PB Tom Moschitz 13.20 - first TNF100 - for a mountain biker thats a great run! Alex Strachan - 13.38 - first TNF - hoping for sub 14 Ian Dunican - 13.47 - 5 minutes slower than last year but new course is much harder Paul Towers - 13.47 - 1st TNF Frik Dreyer - 13.51 - 1st TNF Jeremy Gordon - 13.53 - 22 minute PB Simone Hayes - 14.37 - 28 minute PB Rachel Jaqueline - 14.37 - 1st TNF100 Geoff Millar 14.52 - 3 hour 17 minute PB Todd Muller 15.20 - 1 hour PB Carl Schodde 15.27 - 3 hour 30 minute PB Dan Huber 15.38 - 28 minute PB Tanya Carroll - 16.04 - 30 minute PB Paviter Singh - 16.09 - 4 hour PB Josh Newton - 16.09 - 1st TNF Damon Roberts 16.32 - 7 minute PB Cathy Duffy 16.43 - 1st TNF Mike Toby 19.21 John Domican 20.54 - 1st TNF and battled a rolled ankle very early on Sara Emr - 20.58 - 1st TNF and had a fall early on and knocked her head so gutsy effort to finish Lana Flaklar - 24.47 - 1st TNF In the 50k Justine Medin 6.30 Darren and Trent Ottawa showed some brotherly love and finished their first TNF50 together in 6.39 Dave Malcolm 7.12 a good training run for events to come Anna Dacre 7.24 - battled a calf injury throughout but showed great mental toughness to finish her first TNF50 ( and ultra of any kind) Craig Toomey - 7.27 - 3 minute PB Virginia Elvy 7.33 1st TNF50 - smiling almost the whole way around! Collette Potter 6.59 - 1st TNF50 That wasnt the only races happening on the weekend Stephen Mitchell finished 6th at the North Downs Way 50 miler Steve Marton 12th at the Cooks Tour, Glasshouse 50k Jacqueline Dukino also had a good run at the Cooks tour Karen Summerville clocked another marathon finish in Riga Karen Haywood had a tough run with some stomach issues at the Great Ocean Road Marathon 45km but toughed it out to finish And last but not least Finn OMara - finished 1st in a 50 mile race in Ireland . Having not run a sub 4 marathon for 3 years has managed to run 2 this year and then followed up with a sub 8 hour 50 mile! I also want to say well done to Mitch Reid and Peter Hamilton who didnt have the best of days at TNF100 and had to withdraw . They may not have finished but they gave it their all and you cant ask for more than that. Peter caught the flu the week before the race and Mitch was withdrawn at CP5 with Hyponatremia so neither of them had any choice in pulling out.
