What a weekend for our sports teams! The headline was undoubtedly the 38-31 comeback win by our football team, who remained undefeated at home after battling back from a 15 point halftime deficit. against Carnegie Mellon. CMU came into the game having won three out of their last four games, but ultimately could not overcome 17 unanswered points by the Bearcats in the 3rd quarter. With the win, the team improved to 3-2 in the PAC, 3-4 overall and 3-0 at home. But football wasnt the only successful Bearcat sport this weekend. Freshman Kenan Ruffner scored two goals in the second half to help our mens soccer team defeat Bethany, 3-1. With the win, the team improves to 6-12 overall and 2-4 in the PAC. Meanwhile, our womens soccer team battled to a scoreless draw in double overtime against Bethany, while the volleyball team split a tri-match at the Carey Center - falling to Thomas More, 3-0, before defeating Penn State Fayette with the same score. Last, but certainly not least, one season came to an end as another began. Our womens tennis team competed at the PAC Championships in Erie this weekend, finishing in third place behind strong performances in singles play. Jackii Hauser, Susie Ellis, Regina Woloshun and Hannah Kahn all finished as runners up in their respective brackets. Meanwhile, the swimming season officially began with the Westminster Relays in New Wilmington, PA, where the mens 3x100 butterfly relay finished in second place, while the womens 800 free relay along with the mens 500 crescendo relay, 400 free relay, 3x500 free relay and 400 IM relay all came in third. The Bearcats will open PAC competition this week at Grove City.
