What a weekend its been!!!!! Firstly en route to Bairnsdale draft via corryong near the top of the mountain range Rodney split one if his fuel return lines....... A call to his old owner Rodney Spillane diagnosed the problem , racv man patched him up enough to return to Holbrook. I was not game to carry on to the Bairnsdsle via Omeo. Disappointing to miss out on draft but was so heartening to have EVERY vehicle who passed, stop and offer assistance, even fully laden log trucks !!! Special thanks to Jenny from Double up Panels who offered to painstakingly re sort her entire load if steel horse yard panels and take my horses for me. However because we thought it would just be a relatively simple job to replace a fuel hose I decided to wait for mechanic. Very kind of her to put her self out and offer. The good bits of the weekend...... I saw some stunning country side thru Jingellic , Corryong and tiny historic towns in between. This beautiful old country race course grand stand was indeed a Grand stand. Also my mare Pinky had a lovely colt foal, so Bullwinkle is an uncle !!! So very excited about that !!!! Then I went to Gundagi to watch the action at the Battle on the Bidgee , a stockmans challenge event. Was awesome entertainment . Plus they ran an open Draft, some great runs and a terrific final with a runoff to determine first place. Was won by Simon Dodwell and his grand old mare Diva, great to watch. Highlights was the poley saddle buck jump, the stockmen had to ride a buck jumper in the saddle they ride in for the entire competition , cross country, time trial, brumby catch etc. ......AND they have be cracking a stock whip as they buck the horse out, was an awesome spectacle !!! So I had a disappointing but awesome weekend all in one :)
