What a wise lady. Its not because we want to be rude, or look like you cant approach us or were bad people. Its because that is who we are. Like some people choose to walk around with blue hair and many piercings. Theyre not bad people. Neither are we. Minorities in all groups abuse and twist the truth and make it bad for the majority that are good people. I am grateful she clarified this. Its not because were being controlled or bullied by men. Its not because we are being disrespected or segregated, or trying not to be part of the community. Its because thats how we feel and were not hurting anyone. Our choice. Wearing a hijab is both scary and brave. You are either met with scorn, laughter or compliment. It is the same with metalheads, Goths, Sikhs, punks, transvestites - all cultures and branches of society. Moral here - dont judge a book by its cover. Especially to the man who tried to run me over because of my hijab. I would never do that to you. Or judge you because of your choice of tie or shirt colour. Dont do it to us. It is a part of our outfit. Not a weapon. I understand why people react to the hijab this way in the west, but again, it is twisted minorities. Not the majority who you could actually make good friends with.
