What a wonderful evening we had in Augusta for the firework event. Stopped by the shop a little earlier in the day, lots of folk in town shopping and visiting Jane at Rosies Emporium, new stuff coming in everyday, better stop by and see us. The kids got to ride the fire engines around town again, always a delight for them. Had some good food at the General and saw lots of old friends, and new ones, great conversation. Decided to ride our bikes to the boat dock area where the main festivities were under way. Grassy areas were filling up fast. Ran into some really fun ladies from Oakland Christian Church waiting for the big show. We reminisced of days of singing for their congregation and lots of catching up. They wanted to hear the stories about George, lol. Rode back to the boat landing where we set up in front of the RC Museum. It was an absolutely perfect night on the river, gorgeous sunset and boats on the water. Could not believe just how many firework shows were going off simultaneously. To the west we could see a big show, guessing maybe around Point Pleasant, then people on the river bank both to our right and left, then across the river in the campgrounds at waters edge two separate shows, which were constant even during Augustas display. Thought we might get neck strain trying to take it all in, lol. It was great. All we can say is, boy some people put out some money for the big guns this year!! Awesome! the campgrounds were still lighting up as the crowds on our side drove away! lol. Oh yes, Ron and I did some harmonizing with some old southern gospel tunes on the trip home, boy did that bring back some memories.
