What a wonderful moment (or few). #littleb came this week equipped with a wiffle ball and bat set. Eager to play with Daddy, a man who once had mastery of curves, sinkers, sliders and breaking balls - and handy with a bat as well. We set up against our cabin as a back drop and began reviewing her batting stance. Hands together, choke up, knees flexed, elbow up, commands I havent issued since her sissy was 6. She followed with difficulty and coordination often absent a seven year-old little girl initially. Kimmie jumped in and offered more guidance. Who knew she was athletic??? She jumped right in with the patience and cadence of a coach. Before long, B chipped a foul, a ground ball, and it was on! Josh joined and manned pitchers mound. The 62, 110kg 16 year-old showed an uncommon softness as he gently tossed the ball at the tiny target. She cracked one over his head to Kimmie in center-left field. The smile she issued and hug she offered warmed me beyond words. And now, fireside coffee, snuggies, and Smores, of course.
