What an amazing day. We were surprised and delighted to have been contacted by The Abilities Awards of Mississauga with the wonderful message that we have been nominated for the Caregiver Award! Judith and I are, first and foremost, caregivers of a child with special needs. Aiden is one of our four children, he is our familys drive, the momentum we wake up to every day. The reason why we fight so hard to create positive changes in the world - an all inclusive society. We all built Project Autism because there was a dire need in our community for a space where our children could belong and feel safe. He inspired us to create positive programs, learning opportunities, social events, and workshops that encouraged community spirit and unity - an environment that is supportive. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” - Nelson Mandela But what we have found, what Project Autism became, was something so much more... It became a network of families which is growing and strengthening and changing. A grassroots project. We believe that yes, it takes a village to raise a child; but, it sometimes takes a child to inspire a village. Many thanks to the amazing Jam Gamble - A Voice For All who put our name forward to the committee, and also to our amazing community of parents, teachers, advocates, and friends who help us each and every day to sustain and keep essence of Project Autism going. Find out more about the event at abilitiesawards.org Hope you can join us at the event.
