What an amazing talk last night by Vicki Mason! Inspiring and challenging for makers and non-makers alike, particularly regarding sustainable material use in the modern age! Contemporary Jewellery by its nature is explorative, which means we enjoy a large range of potential resources to create with. However, the question of what is sustainable inevitably rears its head.... It was great to hear Vicki speak on her research based practice involving the vibrant but often problematic plastics, and how her work has been influenced by her search for sustainability. And there was great discussion afterward... Im sure we could have gone on for several hours more on this juicy topic! Once again, a massive thank you to Vicki for sharing her on-going journey as a maker. And big thanks to all who came! What a great turnout with a vibrant and engaged group!!
