What an amazing week/night. I have sat here this week with my heart broken so sad over so many that are so dear to my heart that have lost so many loved ones and I have thought how blessed I am to have what I have and how lucky we are to have every day that we have with our loved ones. This week was a stressful week and I questioned my ability to make it all come together and somehow thanks to my amazing friends and family and staff it did and now as I sit here looking over pictures and videos I have laughed and cried and laughed again, partly from being so tired and I mean come on you cant help but laugh when you watch people run around with bags on their head. I think about what a great group of dancers I have , that are obviously little examples of their parents. They work hard, they are dedicated, they sacrifice time that they could be sitting at home or at other parties to come to dance and for one day of the year we have our DC company picnic both as a kick off to the year so that company parents can get to know each other but also so that the kids can have fun and realize what a great accomplishment it is to be a DC Dancer. WE rent inflatables, yes I know its somewhat silly and while our announcement of each child isnt a formal announcement (they slide down the slide and I say their name while everyone cheers for them) only those that know me probably can sense how emotional it is for me by my cracking voice (or they think I am just a hormonal boy). I want these kids to feel special, to know we are proud of them no matter what dances they end up chosen for, where their spot is in a dance , etc. I want them to feel fabulous when they slide down that slide and remember that feeling FOREVER. I know silly, thats just how I am. A night full of silliness, hahah. And as we headed up to that field for the kids to find out who their little sister /bro was you have no idea how important it was for me to know that they were going to be happy with who they ended up with. I stressed over it for days , swapped them around 100 times and to see those sweet little girls turn around and scream with the biggest smiles and take off running to find their bag person hahah, its just priceless. Thank goodness some of the parents caught some of it on video. I watched one that monica took that captured at least 4 or 5 finding their sisters and there I was weeping and laughing partly because people were taking pictures while other people were still roaming with bags on their heads and then I was picturing some silly home depot commercial and got myself giggling . Needless to say, a special night for me and hopefully a special night for some of these sweet kiddos. Love these kids and cant wait to be a part of this dance journey with them.
