What an awesome rescue story! Two days ago, two juvenile green sea turtles were rescued from Navarre Beach Fishing Pier! This was a result of our Responsible Pier Initiative, which Navarre Beach Fishing Pier had recently implemented. Both juveniles were accidentally hooked by fishermen on the pier, however, due to the signage, tools and training provided by LMC, Navarre Pier employees knew just what to do! After a consult with FWC and triage by a state permitted stranding volunteer, both greens were transported to the Gulfarium and will be evaluated and treated under their C.A.R.E. program. We love hearing stories like this - everyone working together for the greater good of saving sea turtles! Special thanks to Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center for sharing this story.
