What an horrific and traumatic experience for all those caught up in the seige in Sydney. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with them, and the family and friends of those who have been killed and injured. I have huge admiration also for the courage and professionalism of the Police and emergency services. It would seem that what has happened here is the result of the awful actions of a deeply disturbed individual, rather than any organised campaign by a group. It is important at this time to recognise that while we live in times of heightened threats, we must not add to the climate of fear through political opportunism. John Key needs to stop with the rhetoric about this being related to an Islamic state outreach programme and listen to the Australian Police Chief, who called it the work of an individual.
