What an incredible email to receive from Stiches new family! ! So touching! Your going to have great life our dear friend Stitches! Please read email below. What a fantastic home for a dog that needed him as much as he needed the dog!! ... Hello: Thank you so much for sharing the before pictures and this unbelievable story with me as hard to believe as it is. Let me tell you my story. I had a mini daschund for 7 years who was the love of my life and never left my side during that time. He developed a herniated disk in his neck which eventually paralysed him and I had to eventually have him put to sleep about 4 months ago. It has absolutely devastated me and I swore I would never have another dog as that pain of losing one is simply too much to bear! Well my pain did not ease up during this time and I know I can never have my little Charlie back but not only did I miss him but I so missed having a dog. I spent the past month or so looking to adopt a dog that needed me as much as I needed him. I did not think I would ever be able to find such an animal but through your amazing organization I have. His name is no longer Stitches but is Koda and as of two weeks ago Saturday his life turned totally around. I am 63 years of age but extremely active as I jog 6 kilometres three to four times a week. I have run alone for the past 36 years but not any more. I have a four legged companion to run with now and he is pushing me to get into the best shape of my life as he will as well. I live close to Fish Creek Park and we go for a run a walk/run a minimum of 3 times a day. I also take my guy to the dog park but only early morning when very few if any other dogs are there as I was aware that Koda had some difficulty with other dogs in his previous life. He is okay with most of them but honestly after spending the past 2 weeks with him he would rather hang out with me as I with him. My wife and I have no other pets so Koda is our new adopted son. My other son Chris lives about 10 minutes away and he constantly comes over to visit as he also loves Koda. Considering everything that he has been through Koda is simply amazing. He is a gentle giant and shows strong affection for all of us in our family. I never thought I could find another dog that would be my constant companion and give me the love that Charlie displayed however I have in Koda as he rarely leaves my side and I will continually work to be the pack leader he has always looked for. My wife and I are financially secure as we own our own home in South Calgary and also have another property in Radium Hot Springs B.C. where Koda will spend much of his time as well. By the way he is a great traveller and loves to go out in the truck with us and we will be taking him to Radium with us this weekend. We adopted Koda to give him the life that he so richly deserves and he is living that life with us now. I am sure that you have many days where you wonder if all of your time and effort with these animals is worth it; well please know that it is as we are living proof of that. And for the record when everyone thinks that Koda is the lucky one, in essence “WE ARE THE LUCKY ONES TO HAVE FOUND HIM” Thank you so much for all of the great work that you and your organization do for all of these animals that have suffered so much through no fault of their own. I will stay in touch. Sincerely, Bob
