What an incredible....surreal....and ultimately, blessed day. I cannot be more proud of Isaiah Lardomita Leslie Soto Miguel Lopez Esmeralda Ortiz Priscilla Jimenez Ayoo Tahisha Sanchez Darrian Hooper and the rest of the PAL team who made the insane hike to the summit of Mount St. Helens.....Just when we were enjoying our victory, tragedy struck when one our kids, Michael rolled down the gravel path, tumbling over several sharp rocks which resulted in injuries. My partner, Michael Lee acted quickly with the first aid kit and stabilized Michael. We called 911 and within 2 hours an air unit was enroute to the summit. Knowing that they would not be able to land on the incline, our older boys took turns assisting Michael down to a flat part of the mountain. Once the helicopter took my partner and Michael to the hospital, sunset was upon us and we still had several hours to hike. The kids continued to work together and we made it down safely! My prayers go out tonight to the 18 year old boy who got lost up there today.....and to the search and rescue workers who were still searching for him once it got dark......They are the true Heroes!
