What an incredible weekend for me. I live to help others achieve - TopicsExpress

What an incredible weekend for me. I live to help others achieve their dreams …that’s my dream. And this weekend I was blessed to be on-hand as one young man achieved his, and two others continued to pursue theirs. As a part of the hunting series I am helping produce for the Sportsman Channel one of our story lines is a hunter mentor program where a group of hunters work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program to mentor youth in hunting. This weekend one young man and his hunting mentor were on the Two Rivers Ranch for his deer hunt. The two of them spent the early part of the day scouting for deer and as dusk approached they settled into a bale blind to wait for his opportunity to fill his whitetail buck tag. We were in the blind for a relatively short amount of time (although for the three of us it seemed quite a bit longer) as the anticipation built. Three times he spotted a buck and two doe working their way towards us only to have them become spooked and leave. Finally out of nowhere the two doe passed the blind so close it seemed we could reach out and touch them. We all became anxious as we waited for the buck to arrive …then he was there in all his glory. A five by five, good-sized whitetail buck, he majestically strode closely by and continued towards the flats as our young hunter steadied his rifle with the proper breathing technique his mentor showed him. With one last cleansing breath he shot. His aim was true and we quickly found ourselves celebrating his successful hunt, one that will provide a good deal of venison for his family this winter. It was truly a dream come true for him. As for his mentor and the fledgling television producer I am working with their dreams too are being achieved. For the mentor his work with this young man continues to prove fruitful and for the producer we are another step closer to creating his cable TV series. It was indeed a great weekend.
