What are Rights but an agreement between you and the people that - TopicsExpress

What are Rights but an agreement between you and the people that believe they have authority over you ie state employees? Believing in the state means you believe you have some special agreement between employees of the state apparatus and yourself defined by some politicians hundreds of years ago (like the belief they are serving the public or some other hokum). And maybe its sometimes true some of those employees are willing to abide by the terms in the agreement when they feel like it. But, at any moment, they can change their mind and ignore that agreement with little to no consequence. If you are more interested in recognizing the reality in which we live (not the reality political theorists try to convince you of), then it makes sense to understand there is no such thing as a right in any material or metaphysical sense. There is only cost-benefit analyses and thus risk. If you wish to avoid pain or psychological loss, avoiding state employees that believe they have power over you in some way ie Cops is probably your best bet. Of course, I advocate doing as you please with an eye on the fact that if you are doing something the political system has deemed illegal, then you better be good at finding ways around their own perception of authority. Otherwise, the cost could be far greater than the reward, subjectively speaking.
