What are Your Habits of Faithfulness? Acts 17:10b On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. Thoughts for Today: You really have to admire and respect Paul and Silas. No matter how many times they are bruised, battered, beaten, or thrown in jail they seem to always go back to their time proven ways -- teaching in the synagogue upon reaching a new city. When we repeat the same pattern of behavior over and over again, psychologists call it a habit. The dictionary defines a habit as: an action or pattern of behavior that is repeated so often that it becomes typical of someone, although he or she may be unaware of it. Im going to extend this definition a bit further and call what Paul and Silas are doing a habit of faithfulness, in other words doing something repeatedly because God has called them to do it, regardless of the cost. What are some of your habits of faithfulness? One of mine is to get up early several mornings a week to write these devotionals before I start my day. One thing I can tell you for sure is my habit of faithfulness did not begin one day with the intent of writing devotions for distribution on the internet. It started years ago with developing the discipline to get up early every day to pray and read my Bible; my reading led me to greater questions which I then researched for answers; and the answers left me wondering how to apply the teaching to my everyday life. God made me aware that All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness... (2 Timothy 3:16). The key word there is all, and I began (as part of my own personal study) to write an application of Scripture for each verse I read. The writing turned into teaching Bible studies at my church, and leading a small group in my home. This led to coaching and mentoring men in their individual walk with God, and eventually into ministry leadership and Gods calling to publicly distribute these devotions each...
