What are float frames? This can represent a variety of types of picture framing but my float frames are made as follows. The print or other artwork is bonded onto a flat rigid board. In most instances I then apply a laminate film - this can be gloss, matt or semi-gloss in its finish. The laminate not only protects the image but usually enhances it. The moulding has a flat profile from the front elevation with a lip around the outer edges. In traditional framing the image is mounted in the frame through the back behind glass. With this method of float framing the image is bonded to the front of the frame using adhesive. No glass is involved. This gives the benefit of being lightweight and less likely to breakage. The finished frame can be displayed like any other frame on your wall. I not only provide these frames with printed images as seen on this page but also can make them bespoke to order.
