What are some disadvantages that many students from other towns have when staying and going to school in big cities? 422 Today more and more students from provinces out of the city are going to come, stay and study in schools or colleges in big cities. My university is a proof. Most of the students in my university are country folks. Besides advantages, they have to face many disadvantages when living in big cities. Firstly, they have to live in an extremely strange place. Unlike students living in the city who can live in their home, students from other towns must live in relatives’ house, dormitory or rent houses. Living in such a condition is not only inconvenient but also uncomfortable. My friend’ case, Duong, is an example. She is living in her aunt’s house. Her room is a very hot small old garret. It has neither a bed nor a desk. She finds it difficult to sleep on the ground or find a place to learn properly. It has made her feel very bored for a long time. Hence, students from other towns need a lot of time to adapt themselves to a new place. Secondly, they always think about how to use their money sensibly. With a little amount of money every month, they must calculate carefully before buying something. If not, they will face being out of money in the end of month. It’s so pity for a friend in my class, Nam. He never goes out with his friends. He usually has to go without food or eat noodle instead of rice to save his money. But in the end of month, I still see him borrowing money from his friends and he looks very miserable about this. Consequently, finance always is a big problem to students from other towns. Last but not least, that they can’t live with their family is the most disadvantageous to them. In this age, it is easy to make a mistake if they don’t have their family beside them. My friend, Van, was in the case. She was a good student until she became crazy about Korean music groups two years ago. She just watched and listened to Korean music shows all day. She absented herself from school about three semesters. The news of being expelled from the school of Van made her parents terribly shocked. Therefore, living without close relatives beside is really hard to study seriously. To sum up, staying and going to school in big cities don’t always have advantages. Living in a strange place, facing financial difficulties, and living independently are disadvantages students from other towns have to face.
