What are some of your policies re: handing over complete project - TopicsExpress

What are some of your policies re: handing over complete project files at the end of a project? Especially a spec project. In my case, i just finished 4 songs that i cowrote with a great woman singer. weve considered it a spec band project all along. no money has changed hands. (all writing and royalties agreed as 50/50 split.) now at the end, before i was about to get the tracks mastered, after having seemingly approved the tracks and her vocals twice i was asked to give her a copy of the project files. this evolved into her revealing that she wasnt happy with some of her vocal performances and that she wants to rerecord them. (im quite done with the project and have no interest in rerecording, re-editing, re-comping and remixing.) so bottom line: what are some of your policies re: handing over project files (leaving out the technical issues of DP, unprinted software synth tracks and plugs etc.) would you hand over your project files to a spec collaborator? for me it feels it would be different if i had been paid. i think. of course in the old days it was a bit easier and different to just hand over the 24 track tape. so im trying to separate the partnership issues from the technical issues and get your feedback on the studio policy issues and see how other pros deal with this. thanks!
