What are the benefits of eating clean and is it really THAT bad to eat processed foods and refined sugars? The biggest benefit that you see almost immediately when opting to eat clean is a boost in energy levels. B vitamins help the body to create energy and when we eat refined foods like white rice and pasta instead of brown rice then we miss out on these valuable vitamins. Yes, we may feel a high after consuming a refined sugar rich snack, however, this is undoubtedly followed by a crash in our energy levels. These food types alter how our body controls the blood sugar levels thus playing havoc with how we feel. The food we eat also affects our bodys appearance on the outside - aside from the obvious in how much fat we appear to carry it also changes how our skin appears according to the food we fuel our bodies with. The nourishing food we consume will easily be absorbed, digested and eliminate waste effectively and whats absorbed will replenish, protect, rejuvenate and repair skin cells. Weve all heard about how antioxidants improve skin condition, antioxidants are found in their best form in the food you eat. Processed foods are high in sugar. Sugar can lead to insulin resistance, high triglycerides, increased levels of the harmful cholesterol and increased fat accumulation in the liver and abdominal cavity. It is associated with heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer. Dont even get me started on the preservatives, colourings, flavours and texturants - chemical shitstorm anyone? So, the bottom line is - we eat clean to look and feel good and YES processed foods really ARE that bad for you.
