What are the benefits to living on Whidbey Island if you have no - TopicsExpress

What are the benefits to living on Whidbey Island if you have no military connections, you hate outdoor activities, you have only 3 close friends who live here, and you hate the weather? The rent here is $50ish less than Mt Vernon, but if Im leaving the island, Im leaving the state. Its cold, wet and annoying here and I do want to go home to California. California is so very expensive though.... I want to move back to the San Diego area but looking at the price of a 1 bedroom apartment..... no.... The closer you get to the border, the cheaper it gets but the crime rates rise as the rent price drops all the way to Mexico. I could move back home to the town I was born/raised in and start again from scratch..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No. Anaheim looks good. Maybe Buena Park? There are cheap neighborhoods but they are....ethnic..... neighborhoods with again... high crime rates. Basically, I pay out the nose to live in a nice area of any California city, or I take my chances, rent in the poorer areas, buy a gun, add extra bolts and kicks to my doors, heavily insure my business/home, and pay nobody realizes Ive got thousands of dollars worth of tools, machinery, and supplies in a low income one bedroom apartment? Not a lot of great choices.
