What are the marks of a person filled with the Spirit of God? The chief evidence is moral not miraculous….The Spirit’s first fruit is love. Love is the strong bond between the fruit and the gifts of the Spirit. This is not only because gifts without love are valueless, but also because love desires gifts as a necessary equipment for the service of others… This fruit is the best available evidence of the indwelling fullness of the Holy Spirit. By calling Christian character ‘the fruit of the Spirit’ Paul was teaching that it is both supernatural in origin and natural in growth…Invariably we reap what we sow. We can determine in advance what we shall reap by deciding what we shall sow. By the sowing the apostle appears to be referring to the whole pattern of our thoughts and habits, our life-style, life-direction and life-discipline…everything that engrosses our interest, absorbs our energy and dominates our mind.
