My weight loss is a part of a larger health journey that began almost 2 years ago when I began having horrible headaches that were difficult to diagnose and treat. I finally found a doctor who diagnosed the main source of the headaches as being related to TMJ and osteoarthritis in my jaw. I found a specialist and volunteered to be a part of study at Baylor University Dental School. As part of the treatment, I was told I could only have liquids – NO CHEWING for a few months while we gave things a chance to rest and they realigned my bite and stopped the grinding with a mouthpiece. I began eating lots of soup, juice and smoothies and researching how to help the osteoarthritis through diet.
