What began as a normal day has ended in much pain and grief, as without warning, I lost a friend and companion; my reading buddy, my dinner scrap dispenser, my ginger shadow, my purring alarm clock, my clawed protector. Jake liked to show off to my guests, he liked to surprise me with cuddles, and trip me over when I cooked. So when he got sick over the weekend, I knew something was wrong, but it was worse than i thought. After watching him not eat and try to hide I took him to the vet this afternoon where they discover an abnormal growth in his abdomen, which they advised would most likely turn out to be cancer and the position meant there would be nothing they could do about it. So, the decision was made to not let him suffer, and so an hour an a half ago I laid him to rest under his favorite banksia tree. A double whammy to the loss, coming home to bury Jake, I found my new fur-baby bunny had broken its neck and died, so now, I must face the long night without either of my fur-babies.
