What better way to start off the new year than with a photo jaunt - TopicsExpress

What better way to start off the new year than with a photo jaunt to one of your Bucket List locations. My legs are still hurting from all the walking we did on this massive old Steel Mill site. Lori and I have both wrote about the TCI (Tennessee Coal and Iron) site in Ensley, Alabama before as weve photographed certain buildings tied to the site, but this time we went and explored the site itself with our good friend (and fellow Creative Group member) Jeff E Newman. Having him with us was great because of his vast knowledge of the Steel Industry in the Birmingham area. This place shut down sometime in the early 1970s and its been abandoned every since. Visiting the buildings we did and looking at the remains of buildings that have long ago disappeared gave me a feeling of the many stories that this site could tell. The ghosts remain Im sure, but now the only inhabitants of this area are wild life. Its funny to think that the animals live here, but yet we were never out of sight or sound of the highway bridge that Lori and I cross twice each day on our commute to and from work. So close to civilization, but yet so far removed too. I hope you enjoy my pictures, and Im sure you will enjoy Loris when she finishes editing them and I hope Jeff might post some of his images too. As always, your comments, criticisms and all around lively banter are greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
