What big treat to hear John M. Stephens does at the Monarch Beach - TopicsExpress

What big treat to hear John M. Stephens does at the Monarch Beach Rotary Club this morning! Mr. Stephens is an acclaimed action cinematographer and director whos worked with Steven Spielberg and many other notable film industry leaders. He did the action camera (2nd Unit) work on Grand Prix shot in early 60s. He was way ahead of his time with technology with remote controlled video cameras. Hes a Wilson High Grad class of 52. Im class of 79. He worked at 20th Century Fox during the same decades my dad worked at Universal 50s-80s as a still photographer. He studied with Ansel Adams as did my dad. Thank you to fellow Rotarian John Coffman who invited me. His son Jeff Coffman is a terrific film maker who did a documentary on John M. Stephens we saw this morning. Jeffs work has him filming little acts line Sting, Paul Simon and Jason Miranz. Hes been all over the world. At age 32 I asked how many countries you have visited. He lost count. His dad John Coffman and I will be Club Presidents next year. (aka Classmates). Theres a shot of John Stephens wearing a pair of Google Glass. The fun here is he was a pioneer of action filming technology in 60s (Grand Prix) and now hes wearing state of art in video/internet tech for 2014. Great seeing Rotarians Mitch Jackson (whos sporting his Google Glass) & wife Lisa whos daughter A.j. Jackson was Interact District Governor when I led the New Generations Avenue of Service at Rotary District 5320 a few years back. A.j. is now at UCLA where my mom earned her PhD in Virology back in the late 50s inspired by Dr Sulk who developed the Polio Vaccine. Which is a key focus of Rotary International.
