What changed between then and now? Great was my disappointment when two men of the law visited me because one of my neighbours supposedly complained that my dogs bark more than 6 min per hour. The ‘neighbour’ prefers to stay anonymous, I wonder why? In a previous circular distributed in our neighbourhood, I spoke of my day care for puppies - which by the way I have had for the last four years. My neighbours were not even aware that I look after dogs (puppies) during the day; they do not bark - period. The young pups may make playful noises at times when excited. My own dogs are fully grown, yes, but are allowed to sleep in the house at night and have the privilege to be in the house more than in the garden during the day. They are fully trained and one of them is a champion in her league. While the respected law officers were here (on both occasions), they were confused as to where the dogs were seeing as they did not hear them bark… As work is not so readily available, the day care seemed the best solution at the time with the task of raising my child and home-schooling her. For four years no complaints about barking or otherwise were received, and as I mentioned earlier, just after my article in the local paper, all of a sudden the dogs are a disturbance. The socializing training of these dogs is an immense benefit to the owners and thus the public at large. Now new questions arise. Does thy neighbour now care so little that someone makes an honest living or not? What are their real intentions? To apply for registration of this business is just as risky, because it is not an ongoing venture. As the puppies grow and no longer need care, it is always a ‘gamble’ with regards to new arrivals to fill their place. I should think that we, as a nation, should be grateful for entrepreneurial opportunities like this; rather to encourage people to become financially independent and to be able to support more people involved in this industry. I am proud to announce that I have employed two people already and job creation is detrimental in today’s society. Thus, back to my question. What changed between then and now? What is the real reason for my neighbour’s sudden antagonism? I wonder…Maybe his medical scheme authorized his hearing aid?!
