What continues to blow my mind is that, despite my calling out over and over again that Palestinians in Gaza are being used and intentionally sacrificed by Hamas in a bid for world sympathy, there are those who characterize my Zionism as thinking that what’s happening in Gaza is okay, and, furthermore, using my Zionism as an attack on elected officials, in this case Congresswoman Barbara Lee. Palestinians, created as much in Gods Image as Israelis, as much as me, as much as you, have been robbed of their dignity by terrorists who took massive amounts of building materials intended for societal infrastructure and instead tunneled under Israeli population centers with the intent to murder. These tunnels were also intentionally built under Palestinian homes and schools and hospitals, so that destroying the tunnels would likely lead to massive losses of life. Israel has lost dozens of her own children by staying true to moral principles in the midst of an impossible moral situation. Just imagine what would happen if Israel werent committed to avoiding Palestinian deaths. (And then imagine what would be if Hamas were more concerned with leading its people to an independent state than they are with martyring their own citizens to literally and figuratively undermine Israel.) So, to those who criticize my Zionism, which is most accurately described as the reluctant use of power Jews wish they didnt need to have in the first place but do in order to survive, I say this: does it sound like Im okay with whats happening in Gaza? -- berkeleydailyplanet/issue/2014-08-01/article/42340
