Mr Ronald Manik, Ambassador designated of the Republic of Indonesia said this yesterday when presenting his credentials to Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio yesterday at the Government House at Konedobu. “Our both countries commit to respecting sovereignty and national integrity of each country. “We also comply with the value of human rights and uphold democratic principles on which basis, I believe, our relation will become stronger and bring prosperity for our peoples.” The ambassador designated also presented the warmest greetings from the newly-elected President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. “Also allow me to convey to your Excellency, President Widodo’s best wishes for your Excellency’s well-being and for the prosperity of the people of Papua New Guinea.” The diplomatic relation between Indonesia and PNG has been established since 1975, today it has been nearly four decades. Mr Manik said from year to year this bilateral relation has been growing and developing considerably. “The leaders of the two countries have agreed to elevate our bilateral relations into comprehensive partnership, signifying the importance of relations and cooperation between our two countries.” At the regional level, the new ambassador said Indonesia and PNG have played important role and contributed positively towards the maintenance of regional peace and stability.
