What defeat looks like... 1943 : A German Soldier in Despair After the Disastrous Tank Battle of Kursk. The only remaining survivor of his Regiment... This battle just defines the German war with Russia. The Red army lost 4 men(210,000) to every German Soldier(53,000). Tank losses were something ridiculous, 5 Russian for every one German Tank. Yet the battle is rightly considered a monumental victory for the Russians. Hundreds of burning tanks littered the field, heavy with the stench of exploded shells, burning fuel and charred human flesh. Soviets, now totally mobilized for a war of annihilation, could replace their losses. The Nazis could not. It was the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany. As a Surviving German soldier said after the war, The Russians suffered terrible losses, but we knew at this point, they did not care. Their only aim was to destroy us No matter what the consequences were.
