What did I think of Gone Girl? If I had a scale of 1 - 10, I would without hesitation give it an 8.5. It was a long book and things needed to be compressed. Gillian Flynn did a nice job translating her own novel to the screen. Ben is at the top of his game as an actor. I heard he delayed the start of a movie he was set to direct in order to make this film. I dont know what Director David Fincher offered, but Im glad he did. As an aside, this is the kind film that fits perfectly in the Fincher lineage. I was reading that Tyler Perry had never seen a David Fincer film, hadnt read the book and that had he known, he likely would have turned down the role. But he was convinced to take the role by his agent. He should be thankful. Best performance, outside of Ben would have to belong to Carrie Coon who plays Ben Afflecks sister Margo Dunne. She needs a supporting actress nomination. Nothing at all flawed in her performance. So lets recap, date night with the bride beginning at Chillis and ending with the film adaptaion of a book wed both read. (actually she listened to and I read). We both left the theater satisfied. What did I think of our date night? If I had a scale of 1 - 10 I would, without hesitation, give it the full 10.
