What do bored astronomers do to pass the time? They imagine the existence of new planets. Without evidence, without sightings, just based on a lack of explanation for some mild anomaly way out in space. When in doubt - when you cant explain some comets orbit or some planetoids deviation from the standard plane - just say oh, well, it must be the gravitational pull of an as-yet undiscovered planet. So lets think about this: we see the tiny comet or the not-much-bigger planetoid, but we havent seen the earth-sized object thats supposed to be meddling with them?
